Chukwudaalu and the Rains
Chukwudaalu loved listening to her grandmother’s stories about how the seasons used to be. “In my time,” Grandma said, “the rains came when we expected them, and the sun shone when it was time.”
But things had changed. The rains were heavier, the floods stronger, and sometimes the sun stayed too long, drying the farms. Chukwudaalu noticed how worried her community became when crops failed or when floods damaged homes.
One day, her school teacher spoke about SDG 13: Climate Action. She explained that even children could take action to protect the Earth. Chukwudaalu felt a spark in her heart.
She began by planting trees with her friends along the community’s riverbank to stop erosion. She also started a small club in school called “Guardians of the Earth”, where they learned to recycle, reduce waste, and save energy by turning off lights when not in use.
